Stefanie Brady
Sailboat Skipper
Catie Mae
Stefanie has never shied away from fields not open to women. She grew up playing soccer; in high school, there were no girls soccer teams, so she joined the boys team. In college, she earned a degree in chemical engineering, enduring poor treatment from her mostly-male classmates. When learning to sail, she was spurned by rudeness of men in the service industry. She then affirmed to herself “I can do this.” She took many ASA courses, one of which involved a sail around Delmarva where she was the instructor’s choice for skipper during 4-5 waves AND was able to bake a cake for a crew member’s birthday. Her daughters now look up to her as the captain of her own boat.
