Hilary has the amazing talent of seeing the best in people. This gives her a very positive outlook on life. She in turn shares this positivity with others. She invites women from LGBTQ sailing groups onto the water, and shares her boat with Women Who Sail members visiting the area for ASA courses. An incredibly important effort in which she’s involved is advocating for transgender people who are Catholic, helping the parents of transgender children learn to accept their loved ones’ identities. Unexpectedly, her mother’s death brought her back to sailing after a long hiatus. It hit her that we don’t live forever, so we should do the things we enjoy. Sailing and helping her fellow humans make Hilary happy.
