Joyce describes her role on the water with nonchalance. “It’s just … fun.” She simply likes sailing, so she sails, and has all her life. As a child, her dad gave her a small sailboat to play on Rock Creek. She was allowed to spend all day on the water, as long as she didn’t go beyond a certain point in the rocks. She remembers that there was quite a bit of water to the left and right of those rocks, so from a certain point of view, she could go quite far without going past the limits. Her life on the water has continued since then, with no desire to give it up anytime soon.
