Dorothy is proud to be renewing her USCG license for the ninth time, celebrating 45 years of working on the water. She earned her license at the earliest age possible, overcoming obstacles that were placed in her way because of her gender. She is only the third woman in the US to achieve that title. Since that time, she has worked in an incredibly diverse number of roles in maritime industries. Insurance companies hire her to fly overseas and deliver luxury yachts to the United States. She was captain of a yacht that received a bar makeover on the television show “While You Were Out.” She has worked on sail boats, ferry boats and tug boats, and has taught celestial navigation. She is currently enjoying her time as a fishing charter business owner and captain, taking folks out of Annapolis to enjoy the waters of the Bay.
