Robin started helping her dad on his work boats when she was 11 years old and found she was great on deck. She stayed on the water as she grew up. Working on a fishing boat put Robin through college. She now runs her own fishing charter company, loving it so much she moves her boat south a little in the winter to extend the season. Robin is wonderful at facing huge changes in her life by acknowledging the skills she brings and recognizing the logical options. When first faced with new independence and the responsibility of owning her boat, she overcame the terror that came with that by realizing that whatever she can’t do on the boat, she will either find someone to help her or hire someone to do it. With a degree in English, she was initially hesitant about being moved to teach middle school Life Science after years of teaching English, until she realized that being a fishing boat charter captain IS life sciences and she has the experience of a life lived on the Chesapeake Bay to offer. Working both with charter clients and middle school children allows Robin to share the Bay with so many lives around her.
