As a teenager on her mother’s new boat, Lauren knew she was hooked. She grew up playing on an 18-footer with her grandfather, who passed down his love of boating and water. After graduating high school and attempting other careers, she decided to follow her dreams and worked towards her captain’s license. Her mom recognized Lauren’s aptitude and enthusiasm and was incredibly supportive in her endeavors. Reaching out to local businesses gave Lauren the sea time and the mentors that helped her excel. In a desire to give back to the world, Lauren now runs a boating education school in the Upper Chesapeake. She helps new boat owners in a friendly, non-judgmental, supportive environment. She loves dreaming big, and is grateful for having the courage to create a life that is meant for her. She is now passing on that love of the water to the next generation of female captains.
