Tiffany Granberg
USCG licensed captain
Marguerite
A college course on the history of the Chesapeake Bay inspired Tiffany to create her own degree program and to become an educator and captain on Bay waters. She now recognizes herself in some of her young students aboard - the ones who eagerly volunteer to help and are first in line to soak in everything they can. She grew up on Staten Island, where the water was an extension of the transportation system. Memories of watching the ships come in, with relatives guiding them to port, still stick with her. Her family has worked in the marine industry going back three generations. During her career as an educator for a Bay nonprofit, she learned the value of getting her own captain’s license. In this, her father was her biggest supporter and his pride continues to buoy her spirit even after his passing. She now knows she can depend on herself to keep a safe and enjoyable environment as she confidently handles all aspects of the boat.
