A career that incorporates time on the water with education is the perfect mix for Ronnie. After starting on the path to be an environmental scientist, she soon grew dissatisfied with lab work indoors all day, and began exploring ways to be on the water. She was inspired by an older sister who paved the way in the family to be a boater and earn a captain’s license. Between Baltimore and the Caribbean, she got a taste of schooners and on-the-water teaching. She now captains a boat for a local Bay nonprofit and provides education to the classrooms that come on board. Her confidence is bolstered by the support of close friends and family who understand her experiences, and by allowing herself a moment to appreciate all that she has accomplished and the skills she has gained on her journey to the water.
