Many paths can lead a person to the water. Phyllis’s path to boats began with taking her classroom on a Watermark history tour through Annapolis. After meeting the folks of the Harbor Queen, she fell in love and wanted to be involved in any way she could. Starting with ticket sales, moving on to crewing, and finally to earning her captain’s license brought Phyllis to the role she loves today. Whether she is taking folks around the Annapolis harbor in a water taxi or leading larger charters aboard the Harbor Queen, she is at home. She thrives when interacting with the many people who come aboard. Many dads love to introduce their young daughters to her, saying to them “you can do that, too!” Once she leaves the dock, she is completely focused on safety as she masters the helm. Her command of the vessels is a testament to the many ways one can find a new love in life and work their way to a position of pride.
