Emily Tomasini
Licensed Boat Captain
Sea Gypsy VI
When Emily first saw a charter pirate ship in Cape Cod years ago, she knew that was what she wanted to do. With a degree in teaching and a desire to be outside, not to mention a flair for drama, this was a perfect way to blend together her interests. Her role as a pirate ship captain lets her work with children and offer them an experience out on the water, while also offering the parents an opportunity to relax in the back of the boat. To get to this place, she worked incredibly hard at the beginning. With no prior sailing experience, she convinced the owner of a tall ship to take her on as crew. Many hours working on board helped her earn her sea time for her captain’s license. In order to get her ship, she was the first person to successfully commission a boat from her builder. Even that involved her spending time in New England, physically helping with the boat construction. She now absolutely loves it. Even if she won the lottery, Emily would still be doing exactly the same thing, perhaps just outsourcing more of the paperwork.
